Dental fact...
Diabetics are more likely to develop oral infections and periodontal disease. The reverse also seems to be true.

Diabetes

Diabetes can worsen gum disease and, at the same time, gum disease can make diabetes harder to control.2 Studies have shown that diabetics are more susceptible to developing oral infections and periodontal disease than those who do not have diabetes.

If you develop an oral infection your blood sugar may rise and more insulin may be needed. Diabetics who do not have good control over their blood sugar levels tend to have more oral health problems. Be sure to inform your dentist if you are a diabetic and of any medications you are taking.7
